Marketing a nonfiction book is not totally difficult, but marketing it well surely is. In other words, if the topic is industry specific, there will be folks interested in reading it, especially if you are an expert (a real expert) in the field. Of course, getting them to buy it, well that's a whole other issue indeed. There are numerous tactics to overcome that barrier such as getting well-known industry professionals to read it first and give you a testimonial which you can put onto a website where others can go to order the book.
Now then, how do you get folks in that sector to come to your website? Well, I generally recommend purchasing inexpensive banner ads on Email Industry Newsletters and in Electronic Trade Journals. I also recommend getting with other industry-sector vendors and buying banner ads or trading them for banner ads on your website.
Another really wise concept is to write short articles relating to the book or eBooks content for trade journals and also to post on online article directories; with a byline and link to your website of course. Often, trade industry-journals need additional content and filler articles, and the exposure further assists in cementing yourself as an expert with new potential book buying clients.
Lastly, having a data base of customers who've previously bought your books or eBooks will help you with your next work, and so on. Selling your nonfiction books does not have to be complicated, rather you need to do what works and use these and other time tested techniques. If you need further advice on this topic, I am available for an email chat on the topic. Continued success.
